Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Equality law is a statutory framework that decides how services must be designed and delivered, not an optional layer of good manners on top of clinical practice.

The Equality Act 2010 applies in England, Scotland and Wales; Northern Ireland has separate equality legislation, so this page describes the position in Great Britain. In sport it applies in 2 directions: to athletes, whose access to care must not depend on who they are, and to colleagues in the multidisciplinary team. Facilities, communication and scheduling in sport often disadvantage particular groups without anyone intending it.
